My Coal vac "problem"
Overall my coal vac with the Dust Deputy is working very well. But one thing I am having a problem with is the bags in the vac keep developing holes/tears. Not sure why. When installing a new bag I am very careful.
Thoughts??
Thanks!

Are they blowing open from getting clogged up. I've had that happen when trying to stretch the time between bag changes. Even with my dust deputy, I have to change the bag every 2 to 2.5 tons (approximately) of coal vacuumed. My vacuum is clear plastic so now I keep an eye on the filter. At the first sign of dust, I change the bag.

It's a shop vac from Lowe's. I didn't actually investigate where it leaked from... The bag was completely clogged with dust and my filter was black.

Dust Deputy is too small...big enough will "Knock Out" the dust and never allow bag to see dust!

I have a ten gallon DD and it does catch 6 to 7 gallons of dust pear year but it still gets into the vacuum bag. I'm not upset about spending an extra $25 or $30 on bags each year for my paid for coal boiler... It's worth it to have almost zero dust in the basement, plus I'm not lifting 40 lb buckets... Without the DD, I'd be changing the bag every 1,000 lbs or so.

Larger DD doesn't mean capacity...you want larger vortex...
