Usually the pipe fits over the collar. With modern pipe you might have to flatten the seam on the end to make it fit. Stretch a piece of string around the collar and measure it .If it measures 12.56, four inch pipe should fit. Furnace cement is very brittle when dry and cracks off easily when dry.
outside the collar is 12 and 7/8" exactly
do I need a custom pipe?

Four inch pipe will not fit outside, so I would try to fit inside the collar by crimping.

Gardener,
I know I'm late to the party, but, I have a suggestion. Going back to Franco:" the pipe normally goes on the outside of the collar." It looks like the ridge on the collar is 1". Break the bead on a pipe section, measure 1" from the female end, nip the bead, and flatten the 1" piece, both sides. Remake the pipe round, and it should slip over the ridge. You need less than 1/4", like .19", and this should stretch to that. Secure it with a big auto radiator type strap. I also use the high temp metal tape to seal the joints. Hope this helps.
Cheers

I got around to putting in the 5-10 minutes to fitting the pipe I had cut the wedges from to the outside of the collar. It is a lot more secure this way, even carried the stove outside for another burn with the pipe on the collar and no movement. Going to cover the small gaps at the pocket of the V cuts with furnace cement once I get the stove in place and an appropriate sized strap to secure it to the collar.
Thanks everyone
