There is one coming up January 4.
Not far from me. Hmmmm.
Shhhh. Don't tell Paulie.
Edit. Not as many windows to clean than a basic mica bb.

I’m confused on how the plate stays in the opening. Does it sit on top of a brick ledge? Should it be secured in place with hardware? Also, I assume the pipe just hangs down through the hole?

Just a block off plate..
Usually a ledge to rest on...
You can look at some install sheets the online retailers have instructions...

Sorry Tom, missed the Baltimore heater. It was in real nice shape. It needed dusted and the windows washed that was it.
Had a bidding war on it. I ran it up to 2250 sold for 2300.

So...it's been a few months. The house we planned on purchasing fell through, then the pandemic hit! The housing market has been crazy here since opening back up. We lost several houses to either being out bid or cash offers. We have an accepted offer on a potential house and should be getting the inspection shortly. It has a fireplace. After some research I found out it's actually a pre-fab fireplace with a boxed metal chimney, not a masonry fireplace and chimney. I've been reading all I can on this topic. A lot of mixed reviews. I assume the idea of an insert is out of the question? So, I was planning on hooking up my Crawford 40 by running the flue in and up. The damper will be in the way and will need to be removed, which I've read needs to be cut out on pre-fabs. I also read altering the setup in any way could be bad for insurance claims. The question is...what to do? It's basically the same setup I have now, except my stove is piped straight up through the roof with double wall class A SS pipe. I assume the pre-fab has class A pipe installed? It may be 7" or 8", so then would I need to take it out and run 6" up the chase or just see how it drafts? I'm sure someone here has run into this issue? Also, I would need to extend the hearth area. The floor under my stove now is a slab with tile and it gets cooking. This new house has wood floors. Suggestions?

Could you run a liner up the prefab metal chimney?

That is one thought I had. We are not in the house yet, just trying to plan ahead. I was also thinking of installing the Crawford in a different spot and not touching the fire place. It would make a good shoulder season heater. I’ll get a better feel if/when we get in there.

I had the inspection on the house and all seems good. A few minor issues as with all houses. Hopefully we can iron that out and get into contract soon. After getting a good look around I think I may keep the fire place as is and set up the Crawford in a different spot of the room. The fire place is a prefab and the flue won't work for the stove. I'd hate to start tearing into it and damage the fire place beyond use. I'll probably run the stove flue straight up through the roof. Here is where it gets tricky. I had no problem installing the chimney in my current house. I have an attic and installing the support box was a breeze. The family room in the new house where the stove will be going has cathedral ceilings. How would I frame out for the support box? There's no attic access. The only option I can think of is open up the sheet rock to get to the rafters, then I can frame everything out for the support box. This seems like a lot of work...rerock, spackle, paint! Any suggestions?

I’m sure your situation is not something that has not been done a million times before by others.
I think you are correct though WRT the framing. But that’s really NBD!
