Paint Ash pans?

- Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Leisure Line Pocono, Keystoker & Leisure Line Li'l Heater
- Hand Fed Coal Stove: Warm Morning #523, Coal Chubby, Floral Gem #519 & one other Warm Morning stove
- Coal Size/Type: Chestnut & Rice
- Other Heating: Propane fired forced hot air
I was just wire brushing the loose scale and crud off the outside of a couple ash pans, getting ready to spray them with WD-40. While I was doing it I got the idea to maybe paint them with high temp paint. Do you think that's a good idea or should I just go ahead and spray them with WD-40?

I just do WD-40, but hi-temp if ya decide to paint them.
