Coal Vac, Would This Work?

No expert on vacuums so I'm asking if this has potential. It is a Sherman Industries 15 HP 3 phase machine with 5 bags about 6" round and 5' tall in the tower. The suction pipes are 4". I want this thing out of here so I can get a work bench instead of this iron doing nothing. What do you guys think, would it be a coal vac?

It would work as a coal vacuum definitely. The 5 bag system is just like the ones the car washes use for their vacuum systems and rock dust vacuums used on roof bolters in mining operations.
The issue would be deciding on what size hose and piping to use for a long distance suction system as you will create a very large pressure gradient possibly up to 13" HG water column. The biggest worry is buying the right hose for the job. swimming pool suction hose with pipe adapters up to the 4 inch inlet size would resist the suction created by the blower and would help move a lot of coal.
If this unit is a vane type blower you should check to see what condition the vanes are and find out if they are still available.

It could work well if a Ronk roto-phaser was installed to cycle the voltage to create the 460 volts needed.
you would want another 100 amphere service just for the vacuum but it would move a lot of coal.
The fellow jvr8984 could use it for his coal work for sure to vacuum the coal from the road to a ground level bin if he used a cyclone separator as the first point where the coal exits the hose above the pile as he is transferring the coal from the road to the ground level storage area.
The cyclone separator would have to be small enough to allow for the full flow air for the pressure gradient to work and allow the pea coal to drop out while the vacuum is pulling any fine dust through the suction line to the waste canister under the bag house above it.
If the cyclone separator is attached to a short gin pole with a rope and pulley and raised slightly as the coal was brought to the pile by the pressure gradient created by the regenerative blowers suction the net result would create a conical stockpile that would be covered by a high quality water proof tarpaulin.
Is this regenerative blower equipped with a one piece cog type blower belt or a 6 row roller chain???
