Finally listened to those of you who suggested a system that could regulate the coal and installed it today after work. I Had The jack so used that to move the plates. I want to try to hook a cheap 110v winch motor to the jack so I can open and close it fron inside. Also added steps, a smart man would have done that in the beginning of the project.

Got the thing completely assembled today, just have to get some different tires on it. Also got it put in the lean too where it is going to live. The pick of the window is the back of the lean to an auger will move the coal to the window and gravity should hopefully drop into the hopper though a piece of pvc. I will have to find a new place to store the wood splitter now or just convince the wife to swap out the wood srove in the house for coal also.

You should coat the inside with paint, roof coating, or something. Otherwise the bottom will rot out. If mine, I would paint the inside to separate the metals. Them pop rivet, or glue the aluminum down. Or cover the bottom with luan plywood. Then staple tyvek house wrap to it for slipperiness. You get the idea. If you do nothing, it will rot out if used as storage bin. After numerous repairs, I finally covered the bottom of mine with aluminum. No more rot. You did paint!!! Guess I should have read ALL the replies before posting my own... :)

I painted it inside and out and the bottom foot was skinned with stainless I will have to look at it after a year of use and see if it need more protection inside. I have gotten all the electric parts I need and have need digging out the bank next to the garage so I can build amother small lean to to park it under keeping it out of the way and giving me the room back where it's parked now. This should also give me a clear run for the auger to go from then bin tk the garage, we'll at least in my head it looks good.

I know it's been a long time since I have talked to all of you and it is because I have been in and out of the hospital most of the summer, I am back with only 9 toes due to an infection in my foot, but I am back.
Due to my health problems and the infection in my foot I have not got much done on my auger systems or my coal bins. I am still working on the auger systems that will get my pea coal from my trailer in the alley behind my house into my outside coal bin about 50 feet away. I am thinking of using a flex auger for that. I have a 6 inch grain auger in the bottom of the outside bin into the inside bin and I do have an AHS automatic 6 inch auger that augers the pea coal from my inside coal bin into the hopper of my S-130 boiler. Most of you know I stripped out the sensor on the automatic auger and since then we, meaning my wife and I mostly her have been using it on manual only and as we must empty the ashes every 2 or 3 days, we run the auger at the same time as we remove the ashes. The boiler is working great and our house is very warm. I did get a grain wagon something like the one Symonds86 has and would love any info and/or advice any of you can give me on fixing it up to auger pea coal. I know I will never get mine looking as good as he did his. I am also searching COALPAIL for ideas. My first question is there any reason the augers on the grain wagon won't handle pea size coal? I am planning to strap it down on my tandem axle trailer as my trailer has license plates, brakes and lights. I will unload the wagon with its two augers into a 3 x 3 x 5 foot box inside my fence. From there I have a 5 inch flex auger that will move it into my outside bin. No lifting or carrying, just push some buttons. I HOPE!!!
Any advice and/or suggestions you have will be greatly apricated, please tell me if you think my ideas will work or not.
As it will be spring before I can work on all this stuff as most of it is outside, I will have lots of time to look stuff up and take advice from all of you.
AGAIN, I SAY THANKS FOR ALL OF THE HELP YOU ALL HAVE GIVEN ME IN THE PAST AND ANY YOU WILL GIVE ME IN THE FUTURE!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!
BTW I DO LOVE WORKING ON MY BOILER AND ALL OF THE THINGS THAT GO WITH IT!!!!
