So the last few days I start noticing rice coal on the floor next to my hopper where the coal Vac empties into. Yesterday there was a lot more. So after close examination I found the 90 degree elbow had a hole worn right through. Apparently the coal movement acts like a sandblaster!
Had a short 90 to stick in temporarily.
Glad I made everything a force fit and did not glue it!

Hey Kungur go to a hardware store where they stock Fernco fittings. They make a rubber elbow that just clamps on with hose clamps. The rubber provides a cushion effect as the coal flys into the elbow and as a result doesn’t wear through as easy. Might find them on Amazon too maybe.
I had the same thing happen to me on the vac system that I used and the Fernco was still good as new when I took the system apart when we moved.

I've ran 9 tons through my long sweep elbows and have not noticed any issues (yet) . Did you use the normal or long sweep elbows?

9 to 10 ton is about the limit on the last 90 * sweep that enters my drum. A few years ago I also noticed it was taking a little longer to fill the 55 gallon drum and saw a few pieces of coal on the floor. The impact on the last sweep wore a hole in it. None of mine are glued so it only took a minute to remove. As a temporary fix I wrapped it with a bicycle inner tube and hose clamp and picked up a new one the next day.
That was two years ago, and the new one is a little dusty but its still on the shelf ready to go.
Probably ran at least 12 ton thru the patched one.

Pretty good mileage with that patch on a long radius 90, Pauliewog.
