So should I be taking some precautions with my coal cac system? At this point it is not grounded. What would be the best way to address this?
Thanks!

Are you using a two prong plug or a three prong plug on the power cord(s)?

What you are doing is called the Dense Phase Conveying of large particle solids using a low pressure gradient(vacuum) to a receiving vessel.

You are not using high pressure compressed air to blow amfo explosive into a drilled blast hole in a mining operation.

As long as you keep the area policed and throw any and all dust in the hopper that you sweep up you will have no issues.
If you were blowing pulverized bituminous coal dust into an industrial boiler that is a different animal and it needs grounding due to the generation of static electricity from the conveying of soft coal(bituminous)dust.

No worries, as long as the electric motor(s) on the vacuum(s) are in good shape you will be fine with it. If you are using a bag in the shop vac and a dust deputy as a primary dust collector all the better.
