I disconnected my Dust Deputy from my system and it seems vto work much better. But the pleated filter will need more cleaning.
I have Craftsman shop vac. Wondering if anyone is using a filter bag in addition to the pleated filter?
Thanks!

Yes, I use a drywall bag in addition to the pleated filter. Even with the dust deputy i have to change bags every two tons or so.

Don't use the little bag that goes over the paper filter it clogs way to quick and you lose suction. Go with the paper bag that connects to the intake, works much better

Timely question....i was coming back through DE today and stopped at HD for these among some other things while shopping tax free. I go through 2 - 3 bags per year but the vac is not only used for the coal vac but also general cleanup around the stove and also the cat hair that accumulates on the steps and basement floor from return air currents.

Bought a new Ryobi hand vacuum for clean up around stove and does not work well, blows dust and pickup is weak. Went back and bought new shop vac and use paper filter bags connected to inlet spout, works great with no airborne dust. Being a COB I did not buy the ash specific shop vac.

As far as being a COB, I do know very well.
The steel ash vac for use around a hearth area is made to handle a overlooked hot ember...whereas the hose and paper drywall bag inside a plastic tank are not, that is the $$$ difference is... plus you do get some handy clever stove specfic attachments.

Does anyone know if the Rigid brand bags will fit on/in a Craftsman vac?
