My thermostat was acting buggy to the degree that it was becoming increasingly difficult to change the set point. The buttons just didn't wanna work any more. So I remember seeing this thermostat for sale by one of my friends on Facebook Market place. He started at around $60 like last summer and kept dropping the price over time, nobody seemed interested. I called him yesterday morning,"Hey John, you still have that thermostat I saw for sale a few months ago?" "Yep, I'll take a $20 for it..."

I looked this model up on Amazon, $179 retail. This sucker is brand new. He hooked it up once and I guess he said it wasn't compatible with some kind of discount with National Grid so he didn't end up using it. Anyways, hell of a deal for $20.

Today I picked up 50 ft of 5/18 thermostat wire. This particular model needs the extra "C" wire since it's powered by the 24 volt thermostat transformer. I only had a 2 lead thermostat wire in place. So I just taped the new wire to the old wire and pulled it thru the wall.

Just what I needed right? Another gadget to tinker with. This thing is pretty cool! A smart phone app that lets you check your house temp and adjust the thermostat from anywhere you have cell service or WiFi. You can also set up a weekly schedule for automatic set point changes. I have it set for 72 overnight and 73 during the day. Then if I feel the need I can over ride the schedule at will. I like it lol.

In the rare event that your house WiFi router takes a crap do you have the ability to manually set temperature?

Yes, the face of the thermostat is a fully functional touch screen display. Anything that is programmed by the smart phone app can be changed on the thermostat itself. I just won't have any remote control, as expected if the internet connection is disrupted by the router or otherwise :)

This unit can act as just a basic thermostat, or you can make it as intuitive as you want with remote control and daily set point coordination.

Tried to give my daughter a CO detector from a 2 pack I bought and she didn't want it. Instead she got one to use with her Nest that alerts her phone, turns her LED lights red and shuts off her gas furnace. I got a flip phone, coal stove, and battery CO detector on shelf. Thinking technology blew past me years ago.
