So two years ago we got a new chimney. My G8 is connected to a 8" x 12" flue and, although it works great when its cold, when we have those days when it gets into the low 50s during the daytime I tend to loose the draft. When I have my Chubby burning in the basement, using a parallel 8" x 8" flue, the chimney seems to stay warm enough to maintain the draft up to almost 70 degrees ambient outside air temp.
I know that the general consensus around here is that liners are not good but I was thinking about installing 15 feet of liner to try to help the draft on these warm days.
The chimney is on an exterior wall, north side, with about 28 feet from the G8 thimble to the cap.
Any thoughts?

It's possible that the house is sealed better than the basement so "house stack effect" might be playing more of a role for the stove on the first floor. Try cracking a window near the stove when it climbs to 50 degrees outside. It might be an easy fix, might not...
