Yes, that is normal. It is limiting your draft pressure.

The reason for having the baro is because your stove runs too hot because of the high draft. When the baro opens it lowers the draft so the stove can be controllable. It should be set using a manometer which measures the draft. If it is open it is because your draft is so high.

Very good! My baro is normally in this position all winter long. You will notice it move when the wind blows.

About the "valve" I'm not sure. Does it completely block the pipe?

Thanks, ;) I run mine at -.03 inches of water column.

The temperature probes measure
furnace 252
stove pipe 172
warm air supply 103.1
water coil 74.4
All are degrees Fahrenheit.

Probably for when the stove is off, I think.

Wow, you must have a lot of sensors in the pipe  i like that, so you have the control of youre stove and chimney.

Is it not bad that the fresh air in my livingroom sucktup to the baro damper? :D
Tomorrow i hoop to burn coal.

Every house has cold air coming into it somewhere because of "stack effect". The baro just uses some of it.

I really like the Brigon manometer. I'd like to be able to replace my Dwyer Mark II with one, but they are not likely available in the USA. I'm running my coal boilers barometric damper at about 11,5 Pascals.

A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for in this case.
