Still in the planning stage of getting coal into the basement. Going to have a bin just inside the wall with a 10"x10" hole. All my coal is in IBC totes and at this point I think my best way of getting the coal out and into the basement is to build a stand. The stand would sit about 6' above ground with a open center to set the tote on. I was thinking of using a 8" piece of PVC and run as steep of angle as wall hole allows. I would have a funnel on the end under the tote. Take a 3 or 4" hole saw and cut a hole in the bottom of the tote as close to center as possible. Any other ideas?
I had thought about using my brothers rotating fork lift and dumping the totes in my dump trailer but that would require some sort of auger or conveyor to get the material high enough to feed through the wall since the dump trailer is only a few feet off the ground when dumping. I was also concerned about using a auger as I believe it would create more fines in the material. Just hunting for other ideas that others have successfully done as cheaply as you can without damaging the material.
PVC for coal chute?

Coal likes a flat bottom chute, I use the kids slide.

3-4" exit hole in bottom will 'bridge' w/o agitation or stirring, a 10x10" window, depending on wall thickness, allows for a small pipe diameter being at a steep angle.
Looks like a 'slide chute' and a 'slide gate bottom' may work...
