I get to post a picture of my coal bin? I love this place. None of my friends appreciate my coal bin...it's just outside the basement door.

Just about 7 tons when it's full up. I keep two in "reserve" over to the left and refill the main square compartment every year or two, depending on how much I burn.

NICE! Is that pic from this year with snow already?? Its good to have it close to the door to make it as easy as possible.

You need to start hanging with a better class of people if they don't appreciate a good coal bin! toothy

Yep, we got about 6" of powder today...winter is officially here. I was tempted to build a bin inside, but a friend did that and his basement was a dusty mess all the time so we opted for right outside the door. It's a pain for the delivery guy to back the truck between the garage and the house, but he squeaks it in there. His name is Les, and he's 78 years old. Still driving the 6 ton truck and hauling coal chutes like a guy half his age. God bless'em.

Yeah that was weird. I only hit submit once, so not sure what happened. I didn't see a way to delete.

Nice job. How much will it hold? Is it auger fed?

The bin itself is not auger fed. I use an old harvest handler grain elevator and convey the coal from our 1 ton dump right in the coal door/window above the bin. The photo you see with coal in the bin is just over a ton, from our rough calculations it should hold somewhere between 4 and 5 ton.
