Thanks for all of the great design ideas and pics, gents. Tried to keep all of it in mind as I built my basement bin.

Hi , Got my concrete coal bunkers last year , lads came over from Yorkshire and fitted them , really pleased , holds around 1 1/4 tonnes . Phoned them last week as I need more anthracite for my baseburner as it goes thru around a tonne in 3 months burning 24hrs a day 7 days a week . Guy basically told me that the price for a single coal bunker was the same price as I paid last year for my double bunker !!!! So I looked elsewhere, and I found this plastic bunker , it was £209 delivered and holds 600kg . So not to bad . Would have preferred the concrete but not paying £410 for a single bunker when last year paid £490 for the double ! Ordered a tonne of welsh nut anthracite to be dropped on Friday 40 25kg bags sealed . So will fill the new bunker and what’s left will still remain dry in the sealed bags . Plastic bunker looks sturdy and at the price I paid no complaints. Thought you might like to see a couple of pics .

Yeah Fred , World seems to blame COVID for everything, prices gone mad , people complaining they can’t get any stock in . Personally I think it’s B******t , I think it’s plain profiteering ! 🤬🤬🤬

Mr. Wall, on your bottom photo, seems I've seen that bin B4? Did you ever post a pic of it here...in the past? I like the looks of the white, and flat panel construction. Too purty to be outside. Should be in the living room, next to the FP.
But then again, the black ones won't show the soot as bad. Either way, looks like you're set for storage for a while.
And Fred, you know your savings on your fuel pump on line? I don't wanna turn this "political", but you know where that $ is going, right? (And that's all I'm gunna say about that.)

Ahhh, the smell of fresh cut pine. :) Looks like a rugged container. Does it hold 2or 3 ton?

I built it last year holds 2500 lbs. Where iam at only coal I can get is bagged. So I buy a pallet at a time and dump the bags in. Sounds dumb I know but I don't like how wet the bagged stuff is and it's easier for my wife to get coal this way. Plus I like looking at the bin full of coal rather than a bunch of bags.

Cobbled together from scraps laying around. Will hold 2 tons. Shovel right off the back of the truck, no bending or reaching.
And I have no idea why the one pic is upside down?

Fetched some more coal this morning! If I could fit 4 tons in my truck I would! (2700 lbs total, next time I'll push it some more) Figure I have about 3 tons or so, some rice but mostly buck now. The shovel doesn't charge a delivery fee!

And about half a ton behind the old axeman, awaiting its doom.

I like those outside bins. You could make them "dual purpose". In the winter, fill with coal. In the spring, fill with soil, and use them as raised garden beds. What-da-ya-think? :)
