CK, you don't expect your ground to freeze in the next few days ?

I believe my ground will be frozen solid in just a couple days with the forecast temps here.

It's going to be 35 here tomorrow, 46 on Thursday with rain. Friday it's only going to be 28. There might be a window then. Trouble is my truck with a ton of coal weighs just over 5 tons. If its just a surface freeze I'll make a real mess of the lawn. After that forecast says above freezing everyday for a week.

Damn Terry, you'd think Lee could come up with some sort of gadget to get it from the driveway to your bin. I'll just wait, I got faith!! LOL

If it is not cold enough to freeze the ground, why have you burned 4 tons of coal? 8-)

I could drive a tractor trailer on my lawn right now, it is frozen like a rock.

Unlike the artic tundra of upstate NY we thaw out often during the winter. We had some snow the other day and it didn’t even stick on the road. We have had a much colder than normal winter on average. Single digits and 0 a night or two. No minus 0 though. I’m heating 4K sq ft and all domestic hot water. I’ve burned almost 4 tons. Nothing nefarious, just trying to stay warm and have a hot shower. We have kept the house a couple degrees warmer than typical. My wife has been sick and has actually asked for more heat. THAT NEVER HAPPENS HERE. So I was anxious to comply.

I think it depends on how close the water table is to the surface. There are some places in my yard that are firm, but also places where it's soft. Those same soft spots seem to be the wettest in the spring time too.

I only harass people I like. :D

I know you have a big place, and I am glad to hear you have a system that can keep the house as warm as it needs to be to keep everyone comfortable.

I might have run it harder than I needed to for most of the winter and that probably also accounts for the usage. I was running 5 teeth, 5 air and 185*. Currently I'm running 4 teeth, 5 air and 175* and its doing fine. After struggling with the Harman for all those years I just did it because I could! ;) Kinda like a kid when he gets to drive a nice V8 after driving a 4 cylinder.

I would run the lowest water temperature that meets your needs. Also back the air down to 4.5 and see how things look.
