The dust from my stove (hitzer) is unbelievable this year, it's burning well but the dust is ridiculous.
I was wondering if anyone has used a dust eater or similar filter system like they use in a wood shop to corolla the fine dust.
I'm talking about the kind that hangs from a ceiling.

I typed 'dust control' in the search box at the top right of the page and got this: search.php
Maybe something there will help?

Can't imagine where you're getting RIDICULOUS amounts of dust from your 50-93? I been burnin for 10 yrs & don't have any hangin from my textured ceiling??? Are all your pipe joints tight, all gaskets good, are you careful when tending & emptying ash pan?

Friend with a stoker had significant fly ash this year in the house, drove his wife crazy.
I suggested that due the warm weather and idle feed status, his draft was likely marginal which necessitated first opening up a window and second, burn a little more coal to uptick the draft.
He reported the window by itself fixed the issue.

Coldish ashes, I shake grate around 5 when I get home and empty pan before bed around 9. I do empty inside ,got a face full of ashes once too many times taking pan out the basement door.

I like that but my pan is way wider than my can. I've done the shop vac but like you was worried about the errant hot ash getting sucked up. But I may be able to rig something similar with the water.

If its windy here, which is 364 days a year, I put a sheet of tin on top of my ash pan to carry it outside, holding it on with my thumbs. That eliminates the wind throwing the ash back into the house. Lightnings posts work better if you can make them work.
You do not want to dump ash pan inside except in extreme circumstances.

I wonder is using an old windex bottle or such to spray the ashes with water would keep the dust down till he got outside?

Stove is in the basement of a bilevel.
This is what I talking about, it's a filtration unit that is suspended from the ceiling.
