I saw something on a stove pipe in the thread 14 hour burn on chubby jr. I googled it and found some very easy instructions on how to make them. All you need is a level with a 1 inch gap, some tin snips, a roll of aluminum flashing,
and for those among us that can't bend this stuff by hand some good pliars.

Check it out. Looks pretty neat. If Momma wasn't so particular about how her stove looks, I would do it. I may try and make some for R-2 our little coal fired bucket a day in the basement for heating our water.

What's your virus setting at? I have been on it several times and nothing happened.

Basically it says to get the flashing and bend it over the edge of a level to make a riser. Space it out and keep doing it till you get your strip long enough. Then snip the riser about a 1/2 inch from the end and flatten out the edge piece. Wrap it around the flue pipe and secure it with a big clamp or nut and bolt the ends together.

They do mostly the same thing as a magic heat device except no fan. Although Im sure someone on here will add a fan somehow

Caution: If you have low draft or barely enough draft, forget about it. You need the heat going up the chimney then.

I'm mulling over the idea of putting 12, 36x3 "fins" directly on the barrel of the Stewart I'm restoring. This will result in an additional 9 sq ft of heat transfer area.
