What Can I Use to Create 24VDC

I have a auto mag zone valve that is power by 24 volt DC, what can I use to power this? it will need to be powered 24/7. I cant seem to find a transformer that creates 24 VDC out of 120 VAC, only 120 VAC to 24 VAC.

First you transform 120vac to 24 vac, then to get 24 AC converted to 24 DC you need a rectifier.

It is done all in one unit...not necessary to get two parts.
When searching use the term "power supply" not transformer.

You need a rectifier. I'd say radio shack, but that's kaputski.

Their are half a Jillion power supplies you can find online that use 120 vac input and give 24 volt dc output. Don't look up transformers look up 24 volt dc power supply. Find em everywhere my friend.

What are you using for a zone controller? If you have a taco or argo or any number of units there should be some 24vac terminals in it! take the cover off the thing and look around under there......

How many amps does it draw?

All of the zone valves I've ever seen require 24 VAC though. ??????

Did you try 24 vac?

Some gizmos can do either.

If you go PS route you only need 40 volt amp.

If you have the AA model, it is DC, but they suggest that you buy it in conjunction with their "AC Option" package which is a rectifier that converts 24 VAC to 24 VDC.

If you have the RI model it works with 24 VAC.

If you need a rectifier, and it needs to deliver at least 40 Volt Amps, then this 60 Watt model should do the trick:

It's power factor is not stated, but even if it has a power factor of only a lowly 0.70 it should still deliver 42 Volt Amps at 24 volts DC.

Try looking at the local goodwill store for a tote of power supplies. That is where I picked up ten 120VAC - 12VDC supplies for the halloween LED lighting. They were $1 each. I did see a couple 24VDC in there. There is a flea market place here that also has a tote full of them. Most are lower voltage phone chargers but if you don't mind picking through it you may find what you need.

You could hook up 16- 1.5 volt batteries together to get your 24 VDC. Pick your battery size. heck, I have 60 hooked up to an old radio to make 90 volts. Really old school, but an option.

Knowing that you wont likely do that, this page shows how to make an AC to DC converter/power supply/eliminator. it skips around some, but near the bottom explains it better. I have to make a 3 stage one some day. They sell these things on ebay too. 22.5 volts are common for these, but you can make any size you want.

Prolly not more than 1 amp, I referenced 40 va as a standard small size you may find.
