was wondering if this would work? $229 shipped......... cheaper than a block chimney

It would work for a while, but at that price you're better off to get the SWG model 4HDS (available for $322 online) that has been UL tested for coal burning by Alaska and LL (although their certification card only applies to their respective stoves). The HS1 is designed for oil and the fly ash will eat the galvanized blower wheel. I have a 5HD (bigger unit with Galvanized wheel) that I use for the garage unit, I would not trust this for a living area. I disassemble and inspect this unit each season to make sure it is not damaged beyond use.
