About to pick up a 2003 Harman Magnum Stoker. Is it worth getting a coal-trol for it? Would appreciate any feedback, especially from those who run a Magnum Stoker with a Coal-trol. Thanks.

I run a Harman and I do not think its worth it I'm not having any problems or erratic swings in temp with the original Harman Controls.

Mine is an old style Harman Mag the new super Mags have an even better temp control system and I've read users have the same + or - 1 degree as the coaltrol.

You'll get lots of feedback.

If the factory controls are working keep them. If they fail then upgrade.

Flyer's hit it right on the head. Why replace something that's working well. You'll find out when you fire up and put it through it's paces. If you plan on this being more of a Primary Heat Source, then by all means, have a CoalTrol on hand to swap out for a failure at a bad time, like the recent Cold Snap. Same with your Primary Combustion Air Fan. Sure,it's only money, but at 3am on a Sunday Morning, you're good to go without an emergency at hand. Your Cash,Your Call ! :gee: :bang:

I run a Coal-trol on my Keystoker 90. A guy I work with has a second generation Harman Magnum stoker with original controls. He is doing fine, not too many complaints about overshoots. The shoulder months he says "maintenance mode" has had some issues but nothing he hasn't been able to deal with. Run with what you got you can always change later.
