Fine Tuning the Feed Rate MAX on a Coal-Trol

I have the Keystoker Hearth model up to 78 but it overshot. The factory recommendation is 75. Keeping the setting at 76 is nice and toasty.

I finally got mine to max burn with (Feed Rate) FR99 at MAX at 48 and it was almost pushing hot coals off.

The house was cool about 64 and I cranked it up to 68-69 and it took well over an hour+ to get it going and I was checking everything every 15 mins, that's when I saw it was cranking at FR99 and trying to catch up and then check the burn.

I backed it back down to MAX 45 and it's just about perfect now. About 1/2-1" ash.

My Min was at 6 and Max at 40. I moved the Min down to 5 to see how it was going to do. Still seemed to have a good burn at idle so I set it down to 4 tonight. Max I just moved up at 43.

I have a small home at 950 square feet. Need to see if I can warm it up justa tad quicker in the morning when It comes into the daytime temp setting.

When you reference the ash at the end of the grate..........are you measuring it when the stove is idling?

I am sure he must be refering to a full burn (max setting) is where you want 1 to 1 1/2 inch of ash at the end of the grate. Any less ash could and probably would result in hot coal in the ash bucket. An idle fire may have 5 or 6 inches of ash hope this helps
