I am installing my new LL AK110 and am at the point where I am putting the plenum (20x20x24 tall) on and connecting it to a 14" round elbow. I was going to place it on top of the plenum (already cut the hole in top) but have since read that this is not proper practice. I plan on having a few 7" rounds coming off the sides of the plenum. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

it should be ok in your case from what I understand of what your doing.
Typically its not the best way to connect a branch duct (at top of of plenum)
but from what I remember the 14 inch round is going to act like a main trunk to your upstairs.
I would think in this case you will be fine

Thanks Rigar. I have actually decided to run a separate duct system for the furnace across the basement ceiling and not tie into the A/C ductwork in the attic. The 14" round will be the trunk (25ft long). Good point on the damper.
Thanks.
Thanks.
