This is the coal bin that I have designed and built. I call it my Auger Assisted Gravity Fed coal bin system(AAGF). The coal drops through 4 holes in the floor of the bin into corresponding holes in the anger tube. The auger carries the coal to and then drops it into a 4" PVC pipe. The auger is controlled by a "momentary" switch so that the motor can not be accidentally left running. There are 4 metal paddles, attached to rods going out the back, that can be slide over the holes in the event that the auger has to be removed. A 5 second turning of the auger delivers 25 lbs of coal to the hopper. It holds 5 tons of rice coal. The top is 9 ft off the ground, that just about maxes out the height for the lift body truck to dump the coal into the bin. The bottom is flat so if all works well, if it was a cold winter, I might have to jump in there for about 2 minutes maybe towards the end of March and hump it up into the center.I made a short video:

It cost around $1500 to build myself. This is my first year with coal. The used stoker I bought this year and the money spent on the AAGF coal bin will both be paid off by the end of this winter. So far, COAL IS COOL !! Thanks for looking at my post. Jim

Makes life simple......nice video! You obviously DO NOT work for any Govt entity, because the logic and ingenuity you show and share is 'COMMON SENSE APPLIED TECHNOLOGY' (or CSAT). Now, you have one more step to design.......

This is the best coal bin I've ever seen!

What was the reason for not putting a pitch (43*?) on the floor of the bin so that you don't have to hop in when it's getting low? Clearly you put a lot of thought in to this so you probably had a reason.
