Also check with any Central Boiler dealers in your area. They offer a product called Thermopex that is very good.

When I was lookin this time last yr the largest diameter I could find was 1-1/4. prices were very high. pexflex I do believe is a better product than thermopex because the inner diameter is a true size, not just a nominal pipe dia. however could not find it locally. might have to do a parallel run? what is your heat load that you need a 1 1/2 !

I am using propeylene glycol, and my heat loads is 130,000. It is mostly because of the loss of heat capacity of the glycol that I opted for the 1 1.2 I have decided to fabricate my own utitlizng the bubble wrap insulation method since I coudlnt find the pex flex locally either, Oe guy in ohio said he would look into it as he was referenced by the manufacturer as the east coast master distributer but he said ut was only stocked in canada. While I told him Im a slow worker I havent heard back from him in 5 weeks for pricing . I bought enough hpex to not only run in the outside area but enough to get the additonal 40 feet with hpex eliminating a lot of pipefittings and joints. In the boiler room I will revert to sch40 black pipe

Here are links to manufacturers of twin 1.5":

Note that you will probably have to buy a full roll. Find a distributer that will sell to you and see if they will order a roll close to what you need.

You will also have to buy the fittings for the pex from the same manufacturer of the pex.

Stay away from the bubble wrap insulation for underground installations.

I would love to get that style, I tried both the watts and the dual flex pex the watts cost for 60 feet the amount exposed to the outside is 1600$ . I love the stuff have worked with it in industry but I still need 50 ft inside . Things are getting a little expensisve and I got the efm 520 for free My outside system will be hung under a pedestrian bridge on site and layed in a pile of lives and buried for 7 feet, all with in the corrugated hdpe drain pipe and I will use the bubble wrap out of necessity. I don't anticipate it getting wet but I know it wont be as good as the polyurethane, I may have a poly man come in and blow some open cell in the black closed corrugated hdpe enhance the r factor. He will be on site doing other work. Chime in if anyone cares to

Explain in a little more detail on what you are doing.

If you are not expecting it to get wet and are not underground, why use underground pipe? The expense is that you probably have to buy a whole roll. Pex Rolls are usually 100 or 300 feet, so you will have a lot left over if all you need is 120 feet.

If you are under a bridge, why not use steel pipe and commercial insulation with a weather wrap? It might be cheaper in the long run. Just allow for expansion with an offset.

i have also seen installations where guys dig a ditch, line the ditch with plastic, spray foam a few inches, lay the pex, spray foam a few more inches, then fold the plastic over top of that, then back fill and claim to have gotten same results of thermo pex. if you have a decent spray foam contractor in your area that might be a way out.

The per will go through some tight places in the building where pipe fitting would be required but pex can slither through, and and alleviate all pipejoints from boiler room to entry in building. steel pipe is 3.5$ per foot , pex a tad more and no joints as the configuration of the pipe run makes it suitable for the radius of the bends and elevations differences with per . Enclosing it in the corrugated black piping will assure no water infilitration to any type of insulation , while it is not underground it is outside but hidden and it still requires all the insulation it can get as the outside temp will be lower than a buried temp. 100 feet rolls gets me right to outside the boiler room, though inside a building one shot no joints, after that back to sch 40 threaded and coupled into boiler room

Why not use steel pipe and weld all joints (3) for your 120' run, using

40' lenghts of pipe and use the plastic and closed cell foam as mentioned

above? Use steel rebar chairs set on foam pads so no ground contact.

in the tight spots of the entry point it would require swing joint in position and it is in a joist cavity around 30 deep Id have to do mirror welds and im done welding except when I have to.
