Looking to buy a stoker. Leisure Line 90k or a Keystoker 90k. If I buy the Leisure Line I need to use a power venter, if I buy the Keystoker it's a direct vent. Looking for thoughts, opinions, experience with both or either.

I've got a direct vent Koker. I went with direct vent because I don't have a chimney. It has a 4" dia pipe that we ran out of the basement through the cinder block wall.
The vent pipe needs to be sealed since its under a slight positive pressure but that's never been a problem to do. Another important point is it needs to be watched and cleaned (vacuumned out) once or twice a season as ash can build up in the impeller housing. Again, that's not been a problem.

My thought is I would rather have a section of pipe under vacuum/ negative pressure like with a power vent or natural draft . Direct vent puts the pipe under positive pressure that makes me a little nervous once the pipe gets older. Both systems work well when properly maintained and installed. The only other thing I like is there is a safety switch on the stove when using a power vent. If something Mechanical happens anywhere between the outside and the stove the switch shuts off the stove. Direct vent is tough to reliably monitor automatically from the direct vent to the outside.
The new Power vents SWG-AF series that we carry are also proven to be much more reliable with less maintenance than there predecessors.

Just my thoughts, Dave

Actually, NEITHER require a NORMAL Chimney setup.

One pulls the exhaust gases out (Power vent) vs. Pushing the exhaust gases out (Direct Vent). Either will require cleaning numerous times thourought the season and at the end of the season along with the stoves.

A little bit of searching on here, you will get a variety of answers and setups.

One other point I would make is a chimney either class A or masonry is always a better option if possible. No noise very little maintenance and no electricity. A chimney will save money in the long run. Dave
