Bagging Your Own Coal?

I burn stoker bit coal in a hand fed Warm Morning 416A.
I buy medium size paper grocery bags from our local store 6x8x 13H. I use a galvenized feed scoop to fill the paper bags (about 8-10 lbs per bag). I purchased a metal "contractors" type tool box and it sets on the front porch. We get a production line going. I have a small kubota tractor with a front end loader. I go to the coal pile and scoop up a load, bring it to the front porch and then one person holds the bag open, I fill it about half full with the scoop, roll the top of the bag closed, and we stack them in the contractors box. You can put about 4 to 5 rolled bags in a 5 gallon plastic pail, from the contractors box. Just bring it in, throw a couple bags in the stove, and let it burn, bag and all. We call them coal bombs and they work great!!!

very good idea. A little extra work to bag up the coal, but you won't need to worry about any coal dust in the house.
