Keystoker Bypass Loop

hello everybody I am getting ready to install my keystoker kaa-2 boiler and I was wonder what he reason is for the by pass loop and is it really nessasary to have it. I will be installing my keystoker in series with my current oil burner. and my circultators are on my return side of the boiler.

Hi Chris, I believe the purpose of the bypass loop is to keep a slow circulation in the boiler to keep the water temperature high enough to heat a domestic hot water coil if installed. If you don't have or use a hot water heater coil, then you don't need a balance loop. Or if you plan on having your circulator running between the other boiler full time, this will accomplish the same purpose.

To add to what Greg said a bypass can do different thing depending on pump and bypass placement. One way will lower water temp going out to the system and one will raise water temp going back to the boiler. in my case I used a bypass that raises water temp going back the boiler because I have a lot of standing water in my cast iron rads and which return water would be around 80F and stop the pump and will also cause condensation in the boiler ( not good). So by adding a bypass I was able to raise the return water and stop any condensation plus it cured my excessive amount of clinkers.
