FYI- The big orange box store H. D. has a combo deal on right now, $29.95 for a digital readout AC/DC CO detector and it includes a free smoke!!! I saw them in a cardboard display on the floor, not on the shelf with the other single units... Same CO detector that is going for $50.00 plus...

Good club to be in! I'm not only a member, I think it should be mandatory in order to be a Forum member. I've always said that CO is a stupid way to die. Not that I am immune, anyone can make a mistake and when it comes to stupid mistakes, I've made my share. I do try to keep working CO and smoke detectors in the house. Every year someone dies and the news mentions "The smoke detector did not work" Or , hard to believe "They had no detectors". Time flies by so fast, it's real easy to have a year slip by & all of a sudden.... "How come the detector is chirping?"

I picked one of those combo's up this week for the shop. I'll have to get a pic posted here so my membership will be current!

No pictures, not only do I have CO monitors and smoke alarms on each level but when I buy them I write the month and year on them in black sharpie marker so I know when the unit will have to be replaced. Check the packaging, they all have replace by dates; 5 to 7 years depending on the make. I also use that date to replace the batteries every year. Having them and keeping them in good condition helps me to sleep at night. I call them my canaries.

Take care, Lisa

No pictures, but I am a founding member! Except for the draft meter as my chimney is lined and 40 ft tall, I have a draft
that will suck the chrome off a bumper, no gauge required!

I'll have to go get one of them CO detectors with digital readout. I have 4 smoke detectors in my house and 2 co detectors. KAA-2 located in basement, detector is in stairway, another upstairs hallway.

I'm a charter member too. To burn coal in your home and not have adequate CO protection is just not too smart. For that matter if you burn wood, gas, oil or have an attached garage, you should have co detectors. I've got hardwired with battery backup smoke detectors on every level and in each bedroom per current code here. My house is 60 years old but if you get a building permit for anything on your home, they make you upgrade. The basement and second level units are also CO detectors. Then I have stand alone CO detectors also in the basement and first levels.
