As a person that works through the night as a "fly catcher" (Yes, I sleep with my mouth open), I awoke to a stink bug in my mouth one night. Yes, they taste as bad as they smell.

I accidentally ate one as a kid. I was picking wild berries and eating them as I did so. Needless to say, one looked really good and I popped it into my mouth to be surprised by the fact that it didn't taste as good as it looked. I immediately spat it out on the road and to my horror, I discovered the culprit of the absolutely horrid taste. The stink bug did not live to see another sunrise as it was promptly crushed under my sneakers.
Have no fear! They are edible !no74falcon wrote:As a person that works through the night as a "fly catcher" (Yes, I sleep with my mouth open), I awoke to a stink bug in my mouth one night. Yes, they taste as bad as they smell.

The "DIY Stink Bug Trap" link from above is dead.
A quick description:
A quick description:
- Cut around the 2 L soda bottle beginning where the 'bell' of the top starts. Try to cut straight around.
- Place the Disk stick up style LED light in the bottom of the soda bottle
- Take the top that you just cut off, invert it and place it so upside down into the body of the bottle. This forms a type of funnel. Should form a good tight friction fit if your cut was good.
- Tape the outside of the bottle up completely with the Disk stick up style LED light. The light needs to shine out from the 'funnel' top only.
- Use lengths of masking tape going straight up from the bottom to the top of the black electrical taped bottom. This give the little bugger better traction to climb up the sides to the "funnel". 3 -4 will do.
- Turn the light on and place the trap in a dark place like the attic. They see the light, climb into the funnel, loose footing and fall through the funnel ending up trapped inside. When you want to empty it, just pull out the funnel and do what ever you like with them
