Hand Fed Coal Stove: Hitzer 82ul
Coal Size/Type: Nut

Post by Santiago » Wed. Sep. 15, 2010 11:33 am

Last year I fired up my new Hitzer 82 coal stove and had some difficulties. I am now getting ready to “fire her up” for this season, but I need some initial help.

I am having a new clay chimney thimble installed and there is a question as to the size. The Hitzer stove directions states a 7” flue…………what exact size clay thimble should be installed and what size flue pipe should be used? Also, does the stove pipe go inside of the stove’s output or outside?

I need the exact diameter of the clay thimble I should use……inside and outside diameter.

Help is appreciated!

7" ID, the OD will vary from one manufacturer to another but the wall thickness is about 3/4" so expect about 8 1/2".
Stovepipe goes inside the breach, three screws in every connection please.

they make 6" and 8" thimbles . I would get a redooser to go from 7"-8" . get 8" thimble and 8" x 8" flue . inside of thimble measures 8" outside is about 10.5" some may vary . pipe at stove goes inside stove not outside .

Not on my Keystoker. A 6" fitting slides nicely over the breach.

I would have agreed up until I swapped my hand fired for this Axeman last fall. I was also stunned that I could get 7" stovepipe and a Field Controls 7" baro. The world is getting weird. :D
