Last week it was nice and warm and I managed to stretch 40# of coal over 3 days. :thumbleft:

This week it's been below freezing at night and we're supposed to be getting 6-10" of snow by tomorrow, so my season isn't over just yet.

Was 80 degrees here yesterday, will be 25 the next few nights and low 40s for the high's. Fired mine back up and opened a fresh bottle of Bourbon. I am ready now!

Sunburn one day, shovel snow the next day! Ah Kentucky weather for you!

I fired back up too. Picked up an additional 150lbs of coal. Looking at the weather report, I may need another 100lbs or more. This winter will not let go! It's wasting my vacation week.

I recently picked up some KY bourbon. Can you offer some advice on the good stuff? I think I have a bottle of Eagle Reserve. Seems good. What else is good quality for about $25 a bottle?

Woodford Reserve is one of the best, but Ancient Aicient Age (10 year old) is the best buy for the money, it is actually made by Blantons,a very expensive Bourbon, what is not bottled ond sold for Blantons is used for AAA. Please don't confuse it with Ancient Age (Gasoline). There is a huge difference.

There are more good quality Bourbons available now than in any other time in history. Just remember to enjoy in moderation and if you ever crave a drink, Don't.

BK

P.S. Woodford Reserve is the only Bourbon made that is tripple run. That is, run through the still 3 times. Plus it is aged 8-10 years.

On the other hand Makers Mark has a good recipe, but is only aged 3 years, not good in my book,in my opinion they "missed the Mark". In a hurry to get their money out of it I guess. Must be Jews.

I fired the Harman when I arrived home late this afternoon. I'm going to pick up some more bagged coal as well as some more Yuengling Amber Lager to see me through the early spring chill!

Soon I'll be paying the power company for the pleasure of air conditioning!

Cap,

I was out to Daleville on business today, I know I travel through part of Lehigh on the way--nice country out there (not that far away from here).
I take my car out to Das Awkscht Fescht in Macungie every year.

John--

McCungie is 25 miles south of my area. There is Lehigh County, PA and Lehigh Township in Northampton Co. and at least one additional Lehigh Twp in Carbon Co.

I live in the township in Northampton right on the edge near the Lehigh River which runs through the Lehigh Gap. This is near the PA TP tunnel thru Blue Mtn.

Confused yet? There's also the Lehigh University in Bethlehem and the home of Eagles summer training camp. And yes, thank you. It is a beautiful area with rolling hills and rock ledged mountains and plenty of cool running streams.

BTW, Yuengling runs freely in all 3 areas! I prefer the premium flavor.

I'm familiar with the PA TPK tunnel. I was on Rt. 80 to 380 North today, It wasn't the right Lehigh.
Don't forget about Lehighton!
I have a friend that lives in Lansford.
I've been to Pottsville, and saw the Yuengling Brewery from the outside, I always wanted to take a tour. The first Yuengling beer I tasted was called "Old German", they don't make it anymore. It was low priced and sold only in cases out here.

I took the tour. Did so between Christmas and New Year's '06. It was the most crowded they ever had for a tour. Must of been 200 folks. The bar was packed at the end of the tour. I think I heard the keg gurgle! (':x')

Lansford is a very depressed town these days. Mine #9 is open for tours and tunnels are closed except for the tour. But the economy is non-existent except for the one large company who builds fire trucks and sells cars in the neighboring town of Nesquehoning. And the Beaver Valley kids always get whipped by the JT's kids in sports.

Mark Cap,

My friend grew up in Lansford, but lived in NJ for many years. His mother still lived there until she died, he kept the house until he retired and moved out there. He has told me the town really has changed over the years. He says there is a lot more crime, he doesn't leave his car outside at night. It's a shame, he said it used to be a great town years ago.

Glad you got to take the brewery tour.

John

Me three. I was off Sun thru Wed morn while away.

But it's cold and damp here so I re-lit and bought 6 50# bags of rice yesterday for $42 to hopefully tide me over until Monday.

I've been burning steady and the web shows at least the next ten days 25-45* range. I'm glad I still have about 500#.
