Baro Draft Reg. Can I Use an 8" With a Rediucer on the T

I am just wondering if I could use an 8" baro. control with a size reducer on the T,I just bought a Harman MarkIII,6"pipe off stove,I have the 8" form the pipe that was for the oil burner,I am replacing oil burner with the Harman Thanks Shane

So you want to use an 8" barometric damper on a 6" pipe? Sure! Just get a 6" by 8" tee, or one way or another, make it fit.

Yes. I would run 6" from the appliance to the TEE and make it 8" TEE to thimble if the thimble is 8". I don't recall what they call it, but the Axeman manual shows the 6" run beyond the 8" connection about half way through the TEE, about midpoint of the baro. It helps keep the puffbacks (if they occur) from making a mess or blowing the baro out.

Used the galvanized "fishmouth" that came with my 7 inch barometric damper, and cut it directly into the 6 inch radiused T... leaves some "room" behind the BDD and definitely reduces puffbacks and such things, as well as allowing moderation of the extreme draft of the chimney more than a 6 inch damper would.

Have an 8" baro on 8" tee that reduces to a 6" pipe.
Wind can whip off the sound so the extra capacity helps deep the draft 'within spec'.
