Alternatives for Lighting Coal

Coal Size/Type: nut
Other Heating: electric heat pumps, propane fireplace

we went back to the basic newspaper, kindling and then building the fire up with progressively larger wood then layers of coal for the few times we have had to re-light. For me, it has a cathartic effect to sit near the stove with a glass of Pinot Noir to fulfill a basic need of warmth on a cold evening. The "one match" club is a nice goal, but I don't mind one bit starting the stove.

all I ever used is oak , hickory n some ash in small chunks n let her burn real well , nice hot bed of coals and ad some coal as to when needed and yes we like the wood fire and looks etc. to getr goin to each thereown and yes cowboy cc. works dam good to .what ever works for the individual letr burn !
