I just bought a LL top vent coal stove and it won't stay lite. What could be wrong. I have tried several times and tried every possible thing. I put the starter bag in and set the auto feed for 10 like it tells me to. Put coal all around the bag and it lights right up. Burns for 1/2 hour good and dies out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This stove you can only use rice coal. It's not wet! Thought maybe it isn't getting a good draft but don't see how that is possible. It is getting really cold out.......HELP!!!!

Can you hear the feeder motor pushing coal on the grate. Put the stove in test mode and listen for the feed motor. If your min is set for 10 then it shouldn't go out.

When the fire dies.. is the stoker still pushing fresh coal onto the grate??? or has the fire just burned up all the coal on the grate, and starves for fuel?

In different terms.. is the coal fire going out from lack of fuel?? leaving the grate covered with ash, or is the fire going out with fresh coal available to burn?

Put the min to 20 and see what happens. Maybe the thermostat isn't calibrated properly. I would also time how often the feed motor runs. I think if the min is 10 then the motor is suppose to turn on 10 seconds out of 100 seconds if my memory serves me right. When the stove is burning have you tried seeing what the firing rate is on the thermostat.

The only way I can describe that is the lower part (about 3-4 inches) is burnt coal then when the coal dies out there is still probably 3-4 inches above that of fresh coal that has not even burned.

Check that all the electrical cords are plugged into the correct outlets.

Is there a 'door' or cover over the combustion blower inlet?? it would have a screw to pivot on, the 'door' could block none or all the fan inlet.. You want it to be at least 1/2 open,, for now maybe fully open.

When you have the fire started and burning,, is the fire bright red to almost white hot?? are there flames rising 6-10" above the coal??

Sounds like a combination of poor draft and low minimum feed rate. Set the min to somewhere between 8 and 10 and check your barometric damper to be sure it is set properly for your configuration. Mine will do this when the outside temps are above 45 and I set the min feed to 4-5. I change the min to 6-7 and it's fine

He already tried min at 10 with no luck. I wonder if the problem is a poor draf if a DV unit could be used for when temps are too low to really fire up the stove to create a good draft? it would serve as a booster.

Could be draft. When it cools down, I can run mine at a min of 4 with no issues. Fire goes out at 4 when temps get above 45.
