Heating Capacity, SF
I have a Harman magnum stoker on my first floor and an alaska channing in the basment. I keep the thermostat set for 72, it stays with out problem. The Harman cycles as needed, the alaska runs constently. My house is roughly 2400sf, including the basement. My question is, would the Harman magnum heat the whole house from the basement?

What about insulation, windows, etc...? Do you have a way to duct it into the rest of the house from the basement? It might based on the conditions of your house....every heating situation is different, what works for one, may not for another person....
Well, I have an 1855 log house, I almost finished remodeling. Only interior walls have been left log. Good insulation, good windows, not a real big house. I can connect to existing duct work, but was unsure if the blower on the stove was enough to push throughout the whole house.
My house (split-entry ranch) is about the same size as yours & I heat it totally with a Harman TLC2000 in the basement family room. The key is to get the warm air up & the cold air down through many routes.hmkenepp wrote:I have a Harman magnum stoker on my first floor and an alaska channing in the basment. I have an 8" duct cut into the top cap (removable) of my stove and the front blocked off, so the heat goes up stairs the the furnance duct.
You may have to fab up a heat jacket or something to capture the heat and sent it upstairs.

I have no ducts connected to my stove but have a blower on the stove & numerous ways for the heat to get upstairs & the cold air down, including a new powered vent I just put in. New Distribution Vent
