Jerry,

Do the grates come off the top of the burn plate on my older Hyfire I? I took the blowers off the back to vacuum out under the plates. It didn't look like they were removable? maybe just years of gunk sealed them down?

I can see where the whole stoker unit is removable with the 4 bolts and seals on the back.

Do you have a pic or sketch of them and how/if the grates are removable?

Thanks!!

Hey Dave, I rebuilt one of the older Hyfires, the grates should come off (they sit atop the plenum), maybe they are sealed down with furnace cement, in that case a light tap with a hammer should loosen them up. :)

Hi Dave,
Matt is right. Tap them upward in the front of the grate, they'll come off.
