What is the difference between the Alaska Vent System and Power Vent System? A little confusing to me on their website?
(could be the beer :D I suppose)

Power Vent is mounted on the outside wall of a house and will suck the exhaust out a stove vs. a Direct Vent which will be mounted on the rear of a stove and will push the exhaust out of the stove though the wall to the outside.

So with the direct vent option there is a fan pushing air out from under the carpet(through the grate creating a positive pressure in the stove) and in addition to this fan there is a fan on the effluent of the firebox pushing air through the wall to the outside?

No the DV unit mounts on the flue pipe at the stove and creates a draft inside the stove while pressurizing all down stream flue pipe. You cannot have a positive pressure inside a coal stove, bad things will happen man..... bad things........ :P

poor choice of words. I guess I meant there is a fan under the burn grate pushing air into the stove not necessarily creating positive pressure.

That is the combustion fan, all stokers have one to burn the coal. :)

It is a top vent stove. Images are in:

What to Do? Harman Mag, AK Kast Console II and Pellet Stove.

Thanks for any additional info,

Mark
