I purchased a new stove to avoid any issues (hopefully) but I am still concerned about a electric motor failure. How long can I expect the combustion blower, distribution blower and stoker motor to last? The warranty is 3 years for those parts, but I don't want a failure in the winter and have to wait for warranty parts. Are these motors expensive? I was thinking of purchasing them and putting them on a shelf just in case. Please, I am asking for your opinion, or experience with a DVC-500. I am one of those worrying type people that likes to be prepared.

Thank you,
George

George, I doubt that you have anything to worry about.. I toured the Leisure Line factory a few years back, and Jerry had a stoker motor sitting on a shelf running, with a 'start date' marked on the shelf.. it was something like 3 years earlier.. so it had been running for over 3 years..

The biggest item will be for you to clean and oil the motors next spring before you moth-ball the stove for the summer..

There may be oiling holes in the motor casings.. if so, only a very small amount of oil, less than a drop every 3-4 month is needed,, don't over-oil the motors, the excess oil attracts and holds dust and this dust restricts cooling ports, and then the motor overheats and fails.

Greg,

Thank you for the information and quick reply. I will ck the manual and look for oil ports. Any special type of oil? Light I assume.

Thanks,
George

My father's DVC-500 is at least 8 years old. He cleans the flue pipes at the end of the season. I don't think he's ever oiled anything, but I'll ask him.

He never had an issue and he burns ~3 tons/years in it and it runs 24/7 from November until April

The blower motor on my Steel King is 36 years old and it is a cheap Fasco.
