What's the smoke like coming out of it when you're burning coal... is like the old locomotives, the same as wood or what?
Also how much coal do you burn (house sq' and usual temp setting)?
What type coal do you burn?
Finally... (roughly) how much does it cost per ton?
Thanks...

When burning Anthracite there is no visible soot, it burns very clean and only leave a fine ash. No creosote like wood or smell like wood.

I believe most of the locomotives that come to most minds used Bit coal, from what I have read on here it can be much more dirty. I have never dealt with with any Bitty coal so I can not say from experience what it is really like.

Price per ton varies greatly, just use the search and you will find all you want to know on the great forum.

As bulldog said, there is no smoke from anthracite. It cost about $145 a ton at the mine. Delivery optional! A ton of coal is about the same as 180 gallons of oil.

Anthracite is a zero smoke fuel, you won't even see water vapor from the chimney at -10*.
