I was wondering if anyone has shot the outside of their stove with a laser temp guage when firing it on high. I'm curious how hot the outside of a stove gets and it would be intersting if anyone knew how hot it can get inside the average stoker too?

I know with my magnetic thermostat on the sides and front it can get up to 500 degrees when cranking :)

I have measured around 650 with both a laser and magnetic thermometer on the front of my stove just above the door. This is where my stove gets the hottest. And if I remember correctly that was when my wife who was standing in front of the stove with the hot air blowing on her said "Holy crap that thing will melt your legs"

We have had the Pioneer up to 725*. We have in the manual not to exceed 500* but we know it will take it.

Therefore, Safety First - if you have small children, keep them away from the sides and/or front so as they do NOT burn themselves leaning on it or touching it.

A slip and fall can be very dangerous.
