:D :D Wow, I have waited a while to get the ducks in a row but it was worth it. The test fire on the the DVC-500 was impressive to say the least. I put about a 1/3 a bag in the hopper, used a cup to dump some coal on the grates. I put a wedge or "v" shape in the coal at the top of the grate. Used some char-coal, lit it, put a lil coal on top of the fire and plugged it in. Took off without issue. Put out huge heat, set the paint and impressed the hell out of me. My first coal stove, I cannot believe how hot the air was as it came out of the blower. Couldn't hold your hand in front of it more than a few seconds. It took over 2.5 hours, with setting on high, to burn through that coal. Unreal heat, TY to Richard for the board, and TY to all members that give this board the wealth of knowledge it has.

I'm glad that everything went well for you. Did u run your stove on full tilt? You must have a realy good heat manifold in the stove because when I burn my Alaska on high I don't remember the air being too hot that I can't leave my hand under it. Keep up the good work.

Trader,
Yeah, had the settings on high, feed rate at just over 3. Impressive, wish I could afford another on for my shop.

Another question please. Because I've never burned coal before, can anything be found out from the ash? Does color mean anything? Also, my as on the grate was 2" thick. Is that normal?

Looking good GR. So that's what it looks like with a clear glass. LOL. What is the BTU rating for your DVC ? 85K? I think mine is 60,000. That's probably why yours puts out so much heat. I know we just talked on the phone but I just had to chime in.These pics are great. Enjoy your wine by the stove, I'll enjoy a Yeungling. :D

The software doesn't give you the ability to quote the last post in a thread. I guess the reasoning is if you post, your post will be next but that doesn't happen sometimes depending on how long your post is and who else may be posting to the same thread.

Glad you didn't make an ash of yourself with that propane bottle.

While it's never a good idea to have combustible liquid/gases etc that close to any stove, the DVC-500 is basically the same stove as my TLC-2000 in that the bottom of the stove throws no heat & is just a sheet metal stand/holder for the ash pan. The actual stove sits on top.

When you look at that picture with the bright fire ball, and the torch right adjacent, it just looked like a bad recipe.

Agreed Terry & good morning. I was just pointing out to all who don't own a TLC or DVC that the photo makes it look more dangerous than it really is. The base of the DVC & the TLC is no warmer than the rest of the room. ( I store all my spare gasoline/propane & flammable liquids in the base! )...Just kidding of course!

The ash looks a little chuncky. Mine has more powdery ash with bits of chunks thrown in. Can U post a clearer image of your ash?
