Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Alaska Stoker II

Post by sitdwnandhngon » Fri. Mar. 03, 2023 9:56 am

Last year I upgraded the stove in our house from a Stoker II to a 140 Dual Feed.

I moved the Stoker out to my shop, and it works fine for that application, nice to just be able to idle it for days at a time then turn it up as needed.

It uses the carpet feed system, so during the work season I would turn it up two turns each morning for the dogs to stay warm during the day, then turn it back down each night to save fuel.

It works, but it's kind of annoying.

Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade that stove to the paddle feed with the dial? The 140 uses those and I've come to prefer it for easy adjustments and being able to have a reference point for where it's currently set.

If it is possible, is it as simple as just ordering the new feed motor, paddle, and maybe the grate to go with it?

A second question too.

Would it be possible to simply put the same dial on the existing system and simply leave the carpet screw set for a high feed rate? Then I could adjust as needed to calibrate it so it fed at intervals like the paddle does?
