Alaska 140 single auger feed...

...stopped working and seems to be getting jammed.

About 12 years old with minor past issues.

Using Santa Claus rice, after cleaning out feed chamber & ash ring, with hopper off, fill up hopper casting and run it and she jams.

Questions I'm hoping someone has answers too.
1) Do augers wear out?
2) I've removed both bolts holding the auger hub cover but it will not come off. I used a pipe wrench, but it just moved the complete hopper casting. Is there any other fastener holding the collar?
3) Is the bearing holding the auger in?
4) I removed the auger shaft collar but can't get the motor off. Am I missing something?

My next step is to use some heat, thinking the parts are just rust bound, but figured I'd check here first.

what does that split collar do? does that need to be removed?

IDK actually. I believe it's to hold the auger shaft in place. In the picture, it is removed and pushed back. It goes to the left on the shaft next to the hub cover.

Doesn't seem to be very many people that have experience with this furnace on this web site.

Yes, I want to remove the motor and the auger. It appears I need to remove the motor, then move the auger through the coal feed chamber. The collar is just sitting on the motor shaft and is loose, but here's a picture with it back in place.

I suspect the motor is weak and will not turn the auger when the auger chamber is full of coal. I have another motor to test that theory, and though the new motor shaft is 8mm and original is 9mm, I feel it will work for testing.

This is all original oem.

It looks like motor shaft slides inside of auger shaft and split collar tighten things together. Probably need to get some spacers in between and pound a wedge down to separate motor from the auger. Did I explain it well enough? What works in my head doesn't always come out in translation.

I tried that and all it seems to be doing is pulling the shaft out of the motor.

I'm going to hit it with some heat and hope that will loosen it up.

Can't find a.parts manual for it?
