Just seeing if anybody put anything on the outside of their stove to shine it up a little bit Rust preventative? I remember when I was a little boy my grandmother used to use bacon grease on her stoves. Is that still a thing? Bacon grease lard silicone spray…….. thanks

I don’t know I just did this now with the stove running at 320° I know I use it on all my cast-iron and flat top it wears like iron.

Well, just got this old girl cleaned up everybody’s telling me use this paint all the *censored* that you have to shut the stove down. I remember grandma cleaning with bacon grease to keep it from rusting and keep it shiny turned out phenomenal! That lady was smart turn nothing into something

I guess in theory that it's technically the same application as a cast iron pan. I never used an ir thermometer on a pan. Hey, grammas had some life experience, right?

When you throw bacon grease in through the fire door into the coals for fun, it responds by coming right back at you...very quickly....
