Is the barometric unable to control the draft?
To be honest I wasn't really up to speed on how the barometric damper operated. After doing a bit of reading today I think I have a better understanding of it's operation. A friend, [lifelong union a/c-boiler guy] is coming over next week with a manometer to fine tune the damper. In fact, a few of my beer drinking buddies will be here and he's going to give us all a "class"!
P.S. To clarify, not to give us "class", [that ship sailed a long time ago], But to give us "A" class...

How far away from the pa line are you ? Depending on the side , Lancaster pa has hard coal and it’s cheaper the farther east you go .
I'm about 1.25 hours south of Lancaster and less than an hour from York. The guy I bought the stove from gave me the name of a place "Bulls Coal" in Maryland Line, [a town] which isn't too far, maybe 45 minutes.
Some Tractor Supplys have Rice Coal for $9 a bag but not all carry it and the closest is right on the Pa line. Near me is "The Mill" in Belair Md, but they are at $12 a bag. As they are close I bought 5 bags from them yesterday just to get started but tomorrow I'm going to check around and drive where-ever for a quantity.
How many bags are on a Pallet?
What's a good price for bags?

50 bags. Normally short ton 2000#. At this point in the game 9.99 is the norm per bag. Anything under is a deal.

A ton of coal is roughly 40cu ft so that gives you some idea how to gauge it. Or about 5.5 55 gallon barrels full. Or about 60 5 gallon buckets full. Figure a bin square 6ft 4in by 6ft 4in at 1 ft deep would be 1 ton.

One thing to keep in mind; the stainless chimney can start at the ceiling, and doesn't need to go all the way to the ground / footer. That may be a deciding factor. I have never used a power vent, but I don't like that thought.
I got coal today at "Bulls Supply" in Maryland Line, Md.
A pallet of bags [1 ton] was $460 or $9.20 a bag. Single bags are $9.50, but are going up this week to $9.60.
Loose Rice Coal is $410 a ton or about $50 cheaper.
Right now I don't have a convenient spot to put loose coal but maybe I'll work on that.
Thank to everyone for their help!

That's cheaper than here. I'm almost center of NYS. On the edge of Madison and Oneida county.robj wrote: ↑Mon. Nov. 14, 2022 2:15 pmI got coal today at "Bulls Supply" in Maryland Line, Md.
