Hello,
I have been using a Hyfire II, purchased new, for 12 Northern Michigan Winters. At least 120 tons of rice coal has been burned in the stove as it runs 24/7 November thru March. It has been maintained. The single wall pipe between the stove and Power Vent has been replaced twice. The Power Vent motor has been replaced, however, not the pipe portion that runs through the wall. It looks clean when inspected.
Any experiences on the longevity of the stove and Power Vent wall unit? I use the stove in my home (not a barn/garage) and am becoming increasingly uneasy with the stove due it's age.
Comments/suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks...
Hyfire II Longevity

Most stoves rot out long before they are worn out. It sounds like you are doing a good job keeping yours in top shape, so it should be good for many more years. You will have to deal with some wear items like motors, but a quick call to Leisure Line should tell you what to watch for.

My Hyfire I is about 1995 vintage and still works good. I usually go thru about 4-5 ton a winter (along with a keystoker in the back of the house). As long as you keep it cleaned, oiled, etc... usually change the 6" pipe out every few years depending on the corrosion, its only about 7' of pipe that goes into the brick chimney. I will firing mine up in a few weeks, been getting pretty chilly here in Western NY at night. this weekend and next are not looking like 50-60's, we'll take it this time of year.

Greetings! For openers,it's kinda' refreshing to read about a guy who cares about taking good care of what makes his Heat! You're a "Yooper",so you know the consequences of a "Winter Fail"..! If it was me,I'd either put in a call,or an email to Matt at Leisure Line and discuss your "Life Span/Reliability &Life Extension Goals" with him. You've been doing the Maintenance Work,so get your questions and concerns addressed for that "Classic Peace Of Mind"..! P.S.: Personally, none of us are oozing money, but there sure is a gratuity in having "Critical Maintenance Spares" on Da' Shelf, ready to go,when that unit craps out on a Cold Winter Night...
