I’m back!!! It’s getting close to that wonderful time of year again.

Unfortunately, seems coal prices went up. I get it delivered to Moscow area and I burn rice. I called casse kassa today and it’s $250 a ton pick up which is a lot higher than last year.

Anyone know if it will go down or know of someone else that is cheaper?

Thanks,
Paul K

I can't help with Scranton, W-B prices, but that sounds way cheaper than most. Some were still getting decent prices from Jeddo at Hazelton a while back, but prices have been on the upward for some time. With the strong foreign demand for Anthracite and the missing Russian Anthracite imported to the US , prices may only go up. Possibly be hard to get as well.

Try calling Jeddo. Last I knew they were going to be $160 per ton thru August. Coal has gone Bezerk thanks to the demand over seas. Who knows for how long... Get extra if you can.

Someone told me the last time he used Jeddo it was full of fines. Is that still true?

I have not started using my Jeddo yet but I was pretty surprised by how little dust and fines there where on the concrete after putting it in the bin
Very much the same as the Lehigh I bought in 2016

I got 5.25 tons of Jeddo at the breaker years ago, cleanest coal I ever had. It all depends on when and where. Every time it moves it makes fines.

Good to know if Blaschak stays high next season maybe I'll try and find a hauler for Jeddo.

I think it’s cleaner than Lehigh. I did find several pieces of nut so far though. They loaded me out of a pile.

so i got a bargain at 342 a ton delivered to wernersville? well i sort of feel better

below is from a 2020 article listed under the article

Meanwhile, Blaschak's is continuing to find new markets for anthracite.

"It's hotter and cleaner. It burns without smoke. So it has a lot of advantages. And we sell it into the residential market through dealers. We bag it for that market as well. And we spend money on research and development looking at new market opportunities for anthracite, not only as a fuel. Anthracite is used as a water filtration agent. Anthracite is the fuel used in coal-fired pizza ovens," Driscoll said.

"While residential heating is a very important market, and one we take great care of, it's not where we sell most of our coal. I'd say most of our market is industrial. Our coal goes all over the country for the steel industry. Anthracite is also exported to Europe, South America and the Far East for those types of steel-making, industrial accounts or more chemical applications. The material is also used in municipal water filtration systems all over the country. And while we don't sell anthracite directly to those municipalities, we sell to firms in the region and elsewhere that prepare the coal for the filter beds. Anthracite coal from Pennsylvania goes all over the country in that application as well," Driscoll said.

"I would estimate that 70 percent of our coal goes into industrial applications," Driscoll said.

Paid 287 a ton delivered for blaschak a few weeks ago.

The man at the scale at sherman said he has people that will deliver to Berks County. I bought a ton of sherman and a ton of superior, will see which one my efm likes the best. used to run both with the efm i had at the old place. i will admit blaschak is the cleanest coal, but is it really worth 150 dollars a ton more?

A month back--I got a 2 ton delivery from POSO coal in Dryden, NY $305 per ton plus $60 delivery. With the BLASCHAK pricing--I'm not gonna piss & moan about it. I'm sure the price has increased since. I use around 3 ton per season & that puts me with around a 5 ton stash. Will get a couple/three more come Fall. Even though this never happened---I'm a happy old farmer. :)

I know I sound like a broken record...but I had better luck with Shermans' than Blaschak, the blaschak rice was clinkering pretty bad for me (flate grate) and as soon as I switched to Sherman's buck problems went completely away (I know its not a 1:1 comparison but I even noticed my ashes were less with Sherman's) I'm burning Superior over summer (since it's closer and I had to make a quick run after work...son and wife wanted to come with, no carseat in the truck so just sit up front everyone and we'll take the dirt road to the breaker!) but it's really powdery and making a lot of mess in my keystoker.
