Does anyone know if the amount of heat from a single feed 140 alaska coal stove with the heat knob set at 2 is equivelent to a dual feed 140 alaska coal stove with both settings at 1 (assuming that a setting of 2 is double that of one). I was wondering if two burners going at a lower setting would be equivielent or better than a single feeder because of the additional burners and surface area being heated.

Jeeze, it's Saturday...don't ask me to think. :)

I don't believe you'll create an equal temp, rather I believe you'll just create more volume of the actual heat not a higher temp.

Then again, it is Saturday...

The twin stoker burner is rated at 170,000 BTU's per hr input. The single stoker burner is rated at 85,000 bth per hr input. So the twin stoker unit should have roughly double the total output. Until you reach the 85,000 BTU level it is more efficient to run one burner and not light the second stoker unit until the first one can't keep up anymore.

Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: Alaska stoker 140 Coal

Post by btrowe1 » Sun. Aug. 24, 2008 4:18 pm

Now that was the question and the answer I have been looking for, I've had my 140 for 2 years, Just figured out last year that with the temp control and setting it down (dropping the on temp) I get alot more heat and cut down on the coal burn, I'd like to talk more to you about yours..
