I just purchased a house and looking to update the furnace. It currently has an old Henry Stove Company Moncreif soft coal furnace. It heats really well, however my wife does not like all the dust and mess.

The house was built around 1962. The windows are fairly new and there is insulation in the attic. However, I do not believe the walls are insulated the best. A cold draft can be felt through the house. The living portion of the house is 1700 square feet. The basement is unfinished with no insulation and 1600 square feet. The house has metal duct work and forced air.

There is also a propane furnace connected to the duct work that I can use in the fall and spring.

I am looking at three different furnaces: Hitzer 710, Alaska 140 Auger, and Leisure Line AK110 or AK180.

Just looking for a little advice before I spend several thousand dollars. Out of the listed furnaces, which would you recommend.

Thank you for the help.
